Meet Eon van Zyl
Eon van Zyl, the Managing Director of Snow Adventure, is passionate about skiing and boarding, and about the snow adventure waiting for you. Eon has been involved in high level sports for a major part of his life, so he brings a wealth of performance experience to Snow Adventure. He enjoyed a successful international career in tumbling gymnastics, winning silver medals at both the junior and senior world championships. He then coached tumbling and qualified as an international judge.
Eon has always been interested in the intricacies of the human body and human movement, so it was appropriate that he studied clinical physiotherapy. He graduated from university with distinction in movement sciences, prior to pursuing an adventurous career in ski instruction. Eon quickly realised that the ski industry combines all his passions – for meeting people, facilitating sports excellence, enjoying the outdoors combined with the thrill of being on the snow. Unsurprisingly, he decided to follow his passion and make the ski and snowboard industry his full time occupation.
A word from Eon
“I always knew that one day I would be involved in coaching in one capacity or another, because it is something that I have always been very passionate about. I have been fortunate to have trained with some outstanding coaches and I know what a huge difference a great coach can make to an athlete’s learning experiences.
“Through my experience as a ski instructor I’ve noticed that lots of people come to the mountain with a burning desire to really improve their skiing and snowboarding. But often I encounter people who feel that they’ve become stuck at their current level. They feel that their improvement is too slow and it seems like they start at the same level again when they return for their next holiday. These experiences motivated me to develop improvement courses that really help people make significant improvements to their riding ability.
“I can assure you at Snow Adventure you are in great hands. The programme runs in collaboration with the Big White International Ski and Board School and we will work with you to achieve your goals and much more. It will give us the greatest pleasure and satisfaction to work with you to progress your riding and give you a true adventure on the snow.
“My experience in the ski and snowboard industry has been one of passion and adventure – hence the name Snow Adventure that I have chosen for my company. It is my goal to share this world of adventure with as many people as possible.”
See what one of my clients has to say
“Today I experienced my best ever day of skiing. And as I was leaping off 6 foot drops into black powder bowls, and skiing down with assertion and form that not so long ago I would have thought was impossible, I knew that I had to write and thank you.
“Having the opportunity to ski with you has completely revolutionised my skiing. You have taught me techniques that now let me ski almost every place on the mountain. Even more importantly, you have given me the mental skills to develop myself as a skier.
“It is amazing to think that only two years ago when I first started having lessons with you that I was a complete beginner - and not even a young beginner as I didn’t start skiing until I was 43 years old. Your teaching style is so positive, technically correct and intuitively sound that I have been able to make good solid progress. I especially appreciate your ability to incorporate many different features into your instructing, including sports psychology, body awareness and visualisation skills.
“I recommend that anybody who is interested in improving their skiing seriously consider participating in one of your Snow Adventure Courses. Your dedication, passion and fantastic teaching skills really shine through and can help people make changes that they can only dream about - in fact I never ever dared dream that I could improve as much as I have. One of the stand out features of the programme is your personal dedication to really help people progress - and to have lots of fun at the same time!”
