It is no surprise that the Big White slogan is: “IT’S THE SNOW!”. And it’s all natural! Because Big White is situated toward the interior of British Columbia, it receives on average 7,5m of dry and fluffy powder snow. This abundant natural snowfall and the expansive and varied terrain make for world class skiing and snowboarding conditions.

Awesome skiing and snowboarding are not the only offerings at Big White. There are many activities that can be enjoyed off the slopes and with 11 slope side restaurants and bars you can rest assured that you will stay entertained. One of the local bars, Snow Shoe Sam’s, has been voted the best après-ski bar in North America.

Big White’s varied terrain offers seemingly endless possibilities for everyone from beginner to seasoned expert. There is a beginner run from every lift so it is possible for everyone to experience the whole mountain.

One of the amazing things about Big White is that even though it is the second most popular resort in British Columbia. the slopes are never really crowded. The wide open runs and multitude of terrain creates an atmosphere of unlimited space. Big White also features one of North America’s most comfortable lift systems. including the longest six-passenger chairlift in Canada. Therefore there is more riding and less standing around. These are some of the reasons why the mountain is so ideally suited to host courses such as our improvement programmes.

Something really unique about Big White is the Snow Ghosts. At some of the higher elevations the trees become completely covered in snow and rime so that they resemble ghost like forms and look almost animated. Riding in between the Snow Ghosts is a remarkable and surreal experience. Often it feels like time and space come to a standstill.

For those die-hards who just can’t get enough Big White also features the largest night skiing terrain in Canada as well as a world class terrain park for the more adventurous. Night skiing is available Tuesdays through Saturdays and ends later in March due to spring time conditions. The terrain park is open for night skiing on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The Village Centre is conveniently situated in the heart of Big White. The main street, Easy Street, is actually a ski run which gives you swift ski-in/ski-out access to Big White’s friendly boutique shops, restaurants and cafes. A short ski or gondola ride from the village is the Happy Valley area where more wining and dining can be enjoyed plus activities such as ice skating and tubing.

One of Big White’s most attractive attributes is that it takes all the hassle out of skiing and snowboarding. Big White has the largest totally ski-in/ski-out resort village in North America which means that you will be skiing and snowboarding virtually right to and from your door.
